Rather than applying a single uniform filter, I wanted to build an effect reminiscent of a stylized oil painting merged with a quilted mosaic. To make it happen, I wrote a custom automation script in Photoshop that deconstructs and rebuilds the image block by block: Automated Grid Generation: The script cuts the canvas into a uniform grid of square tiles (defaulting to 50x50 pixels). Local Color Sampling: For every individual tile, the script takes a localized eyedropper average from the center of that patch. Tint & Layer Fusion: It creates a dedicated overlay layer filled with that sampled color, drops its opacity to 50%, and blends it back into the copied patch. Artistic Filtering: Each individual square tile runs through a custom Oil Paint pass before being stitched back into the final master layer. The result is a patchwork blend where every tile responds to its own local palette and brush dynamics. Let me know what you think!
